Why I decided to call this blog: “Dorky Dental Student”

It’s pretty straight forward really, but let me explain…

Why “Dorky”?

I am one of those super keen students. I guess you have to be to make a decision to create a blog! Plus I’m most definitely a bit of a dork/geek

Why “Dental Student”?

I don’t think I need to explain this, but I will anyway: I’m a dental student, and the niche for this blog is all things dentistry – from a student’s perspective.

I plan to continue maintaining and developing this blog throughout my career within dentistry. The name will always be allocable because will always consider myself as a student of dentistry. The learning does not end once dental school is completed, in fact, this marks only the beginning of the journey of lifelong learning.

Here in the UK, most dental students qualify as a Bachelor of Dental Surgery – BDS. With that in mind, I was thinking of calling the blog: “A British Dental Student’s Blog”, so I could sign off each post with ‘BDS’ or something along those lines.

But I ended up calling it “Dorky Dental Student”, which turned out to work still as the American qualification is Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). And I’ll use that to sign off each post.
